Best Pet Photo Contest: Honda of Concord Gives Back

Over the month of June, we held a Best Pet Photo contest via our Honda of Concord Facebook page.  The winner of this contest--which was judged by all of our Honda of Concord Fans through "liking" their selection for best photo--was awarded with a $500 donation to the charity, religious, or educational institution of their choice.

Even though all of the participants were exceptionally cute, it was Valerie Bright, a Graduate Student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, who submitted the picture below of one of her two pet hedgehogs who won.

Rutherford the Hedgehog:

On July 7, 2011, Honda of Concord New Car Director David Pierce, Honda of Concord CDC Manager Bill Farren, and Contest Winner Valerie Bright made the trek to south Charlotte to deliver the $500 donation to her charity of choice.

Bright selected Samaritan's Purse charity Operation Christmas Child.  For those unfamiliar with Operation Christmas Child, it is an organization thats primary concern is spreading Christmas Cheer and the message of Christianity to the less fortunate children throughout the world.

Valerie and our Honda representatives met with Deirdre and Jennifer at the Operation Christmas Child office, and introduced them to the friendly and curious hedgehogs that won our contest: Rutherford and Baskerville.

Anyone can contribute to this amazing cause by filling a shoe box with non-perishable, child appropriate items that will ignite the hearts of desolate children everywhere.

In addition, Honda of Concord encourages everyone in our community to seize the opportunity to volunteer with this important organization by calling 1-800-442-9120 for volunteer registration beginning August 1 at 8:00 a.m.  Jobs at the processing center for volunteers vary and are available for all ages with supervision.

Congratulations to Valerie and Operation Christmas Child!

Be on the look out for our next contest--coming soon on our blog and our Facebook page.
